The gathering for our 2018 Call for Code hackathon kick-off was a small one, but we wanted to thank our volunteers and coders who stepped it up and have dedicated their time to creating solutions to mitigate the effects of natural disasters.

A big rainstorm flew in a couple of hours before our scheduled Call for Code Day, but that didn’t stop the fun! The Captain ordered the teams some classic Ybor pizza to get the creative ideas flowing and to keep us energized throughout the storm.

From our kickoff, two teams emerged who will be developing technological solutions for the Call for Code challenge. We look forward to hearing updates from them until they submit their final apps on September 28^th.  Updates will be posted on this blog as they roll in.

Last but not least, Powered Labs wants to give a big thank you to IBM and the David Clark Cause who set this important global initiative in motion. We believe that software can save lives!
